CORA (24) has an ever expanding and shifting list of foods she’s allergic to. When her sister has her over for dinner and fails to remember her latest ‘forbidden’ food, Cora has a debilitating allergic reaction, breaking out in a rash all over her body. Frustrated by her search for answers among traditional doctors, she discovers a community of people who claim to forgo all physical nourishment. Founded by a charismatic and ethereal woman, JOANA (50s), Sun Haven offers salvation for others like Cora who suffer from similar afflictions. The body is rejecting food, Joana claims, because it’s in the grip of a spiritual metamorphosis. Drawn to this belief system and to Joana herself, Cora joins this community and strives to transition to light as her sole source of nourishment. As Cora gets drawn deeper down the rabbit hole and pursues Joana’s elusive teachings, she must confront the darker undertones of her desire to abstain from food.
